The historic city of Budapest, capital of Hungary, lies on the River Danube amongst the picturesque Buda Hills. It is home to 2 million people and boasts distinctive Hungarian architecture, ornate bathhouses and countless different museums and art galleries.

Of all the historic attractions in Budapest, the Opera House and the Royal Palace are two of the most famous. The Hungarian Parliament building, built in 1902 was the largest in the world at the time, and is also worth a visit.
Many natural springs also lie beneath Budapest, giving rise to many thermal baths around the city, including the famous Gellért Baths.
